Professional procrastination, Wordle and word sprints

November 7, 2008

In my great efforts at procrastination, I’ve been reading lots of wordpress blogs and came across this fabulous fun site Wordle, which really appeals to the collage poet in me.

Here’s a Wordle of Chapter 1 of Reality Check: Click on the image to take you to Wordle.

Here’s the restaurant scene with Dylan and Kirsty.

and the first bedroom scene:

I think I will print these off as I create them.

Last night I decided that if there was a job out there for a professional procrastinator, I would do really well at it. This led to a commentary on facebook about the possibilities of such jobs existing.

But then I reached out to my RWA Nanowrimo group, felt shamed by Rhian’s massive word count for the day and got fired up again!  So I’ve broken the 10k word barrier, and with three days off work, I plan to word sprint frequently and add some decent numbers to the word count.

Of course when procrastinating, I always have to return to Johnny Depp as he is the inspiration for my hero Dylan.  So here’s a little more of Johnny:

I’m supposed to start word sprinting on the hour, so I need to get a move on.

Reports to come later.

I didn’t mean to shame you. *pouting*
And I’d be happy with yesterdays total if damn Mr. Muse had worked on the right story! *sigh* Oh, well, he’s hunk so I go where he leads. LOL
Glad I could get you motivated.

I deserved to be shamed. I’d only written 200 and something words that day up to that point and you’d written 14 times that. I needed my butt kicked.

Mr. Muse just doesn’t want you to get bored.

Mr. Muse could let me play with the cowboy. There’s no way I’d get board doing that. LOL

I like your blog, Diane. I’m also a NaNo participant (and procrastinator). Though Johnny Depp could certainly act as my inspiration to get back to my dreaded novel…or inspire other things!

How bizarre. I was just in a womens forum where someone mentioned Wordle this morning and I immediately thought of you and was coming in here to give you the link – and lookit – you have already found it ! I am going to get creative later with some Chris Isaak song titles for a cafepress tshirt design !

It’s serendipity. It is really strange how things happen like that. But I notice a lot of coincidence like that at work. Like I’ll have a day where I speak to 5 ‘Kylie’s’ or 5 people from Dubbo.

    I love Wordle.
